First, we look at the current state of APIs in 2025, from API first to AI-based consumers. This article gives us some insights into whether APIs are still "a thing" these days, with all the talk about AI. Next, we have a great article that summarizes the top 6 API styles available today, when to use them, and when to consider an alternative. Unlike many articles, this one doesn't say that "REST is dead" or "GraphQL is the way", opting instead to find the proper use cases applicable to each style. This is something I can appreciate, as there is never a singular answer for everything.* *We also look at the case for using hypermedia controls (aka hypermedia links) to help drive context into AI responses for AI-based consumers. We may have finally found a reason to force hypermedia upon the masses. Along those lines, when hypermedia isn't available then AI needs better documentation, so we have an article that covers that perspective as well. Finally, we look at the burnout that is starting to take place with AI. People have been working their day jobs during the week, then lured into the latest hotness on long weekends.
