#BlinkTank - October 29th
Welcome back to #BlinkTank - your weekly roundup of what’s happening across Shopify, search, and eCommerce for large-catalogue brands.
This week’s issue is packed again: Shopify has made some major technical upgrades, we’ve shipped some useful tools, and there’s plenty of interesting thinking circulating around data and AI.
Shopify updates
Metafields and metaobjects - limits massively increased
Shopify has removed a significant technical bottleneck. The metafield and metaobject limits have jumped from 64,000 entries per metaobject (128k on Plus) to 1,000,000 entries per definition.
For large or multilingual stores, this means richer data models, better product relationships, and far fewer workarounds.

New “Unlisted” product visibility
Shopify has also introduced a new Unlisted product status, letting merchants keep items hidden from search, collections, and sales channels - but still accessible via direct link.
It’s a small but powerful addition for things like:
- Free gifts or product bundles
- Private or wholesale-only items
- Warranty or add-on products

One quick note: we've seen some of our clients and app users receive the notification below via email. This is causing some confusion as we think it refers to seo.hidden being used at some point previously, not necessarily that it's live on the store at this moment.
Lovable’s AI-generated Shopify stores
Lovable has launched its Shopify integration, letting merchants generate storefronts using natural-language prompts.
It’s still early - you currently need to start a new Shopify store to use it - but it’s a fascinating signal of where AI-assisted commerce is heading.

Do LLMs actually drive revenue?
A new study shared by Carl Hendy explores the revenue impact of LLMs in marketing. It’s interesting, but it relies on last-click attribution, which doesn’t reflect Shopify’s messy tracking environment.
For context, here’s our post on why that matters:
📖 The problem with tracking and why it’s hurting Shopify stores
Still, it’s great to see more attempts to quantify LLM performance.

ShopWorker.dev
A quick shout-out to Kalen Jordan for launching shopworker.dev - a brilliant new way to run Shopify automations on Cloudflare's global edge network
Professor Dan Franks on Popper
Here's a thoughtful piece from Professor Dan Franks from Optifi that isn't getting enough attention. Here he reminds us that many people in business reference Karl Popper without really engaging with his core ideas.
Not eCommerce specific, but a useful reminder of how to think rigorously. And that is always a good thing.
