# Confession: I suck at sales pages

Hey Reader,

As I am writing the sales page for Business Detective, I need to tell you something embarrassing...

I'm suck at writing sales pages. Like, I am properly rubbish.

Put me on a [Connection Call](https://digitalie.eu/connection-call) with someone? I'm brilliant. I know my stuff inside out, I can read what someone needs, ask the right questions, I'm honest about what I can and cannot do and almost always land the client. I genuinely love those conversations.

But ask me to write a sales page for a course or template? Suddenly I'm staring at a blank screen, overthinking every word, second-guessing everything, and producing something that just doesn't land with my audience.

Here's the thing though: I've KNOWN this about myself for years. Literally years.

And yet, I've never actually done anything strategic about it. I've just... avoided it. Winged it when I had to. Felt a bit stressed about it. Moved on.

Sound familiar?

## The lightbulb moment

But now, writing this sales page.. That's when it really hit me: THIS is the thing I'm rubbish at. THIS is the pattern that keeps showing up. THIS is what I need to investigate properly.

How ironic is that? Finding out you need your own course for the sales page problem, as you're writing the sales page for it.

So that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm investigating this properly, like the business mystery it is.

What does "get help with sales pages" actually mean for my business? Is it hiring a copywriter? For which offers? Courses and templates? What about service sales pages, could those benefit too? How else could I use a copywriter? What's the real problem here, the writing or something else entirely?

These aren't rhetorical questions. I'm genuinely going to be using my own Business Detective framework to figure this out.

Because here's what I've realised: knowing you're rubbish at something isn't the same as investigating WHAT effect that has and HOW you're actually going to change it.

One is just vague anxiety keeping you awake at 2am.

The other is a plan.

## The meta bit

So yes, I'm using my own course to investigate my own business.

It's very meta. It's also genuinely helpful.

And I'm documenting the whole thing as I go. How I'm working through each module, the discoveries I'm making, the uncomfortable realisations and all (not the really personal numbers stuff, but the actual investigation process).

I'm thinking of sharing the entire process with anyone who joins Business Detective in the next few weeks. You'd see exactly how I use the course on my own business, in real time, puzzle pieces and all.

Would that be something you'd be interested in? Want to be first to know when it launches? Hit reply and I'll make sure you're on the list.

*(Also, what's YOUR version of "brilliant on calls, terrible at sales pages"? What's the thing you know you're rubbish at but haven't properly investigated? I'd genuinely love to hear. Hit reply and tell me so I feel less alone in this.)*

### Warmest wishes

Natalie

P.S. First clue uncovered: I can write newsletters no problem because they're conversations. Sales pages feel completely different. The investigation continues... 🔍

Hey, did you know you can join [Digitalie's Puzzle Hub](https://discord.gg/hVDaxH7CjW)? This is a fabulous community on Discord, where we talk about marketing, content, our businesses, and so much more! I would love to see you there!
