# How to Tame a Chaotic Website 🌳

Hey Reader,

It's funny to me that a lot of times, clients come with similar questions around the same time. Somehow, there are seasons for certain topics, even if I didn't see the season coming.

Lately, the questions have been about websites, and especially organisation.

*"How do I organise my site when I have a ton of blog posts?"
"Is my website clear if I have several pages that can't be found in the menu?"*

We all know your website isn't a collection of random pages. We want it to be an experience for the visitor, where when they land on your site, they have a clear path to follow, depending on their wishes and goals.

It is almost like a well-laid-out path in a forest of trees...

While some pages are sales-related (like sales pages 😉), most pages on a website are informative, and articles on your website certainly are.

## Using the Content Tree Strategy for Structure

Most of your website content, especially blog posts, are informative, which means that it's perfect for my **Content Tree** method with a little bit of a twist 🌲

- The **trunk**is your main topic
- The **branches**are your categories that break that topic down in smaller ideas/themes
- The **leaves**are individual blog posts or pages that connect to the bigger picture

This structure isn’t just pretty; it’s practical.
It helps you:
🌲 Group related content so it’s easy to find.
🌲 Create internal links that guide visitors naturally from one page to the next (and is good for SEO to boot).
🌲 Encourage actions like signing up for your newsletter, exploring your services, or purchasing an offer — no matter where they start.

*In my*[*Content Success course*](https://digitalie.eu/product/content-success/)*, I show you exactly how to map out your own Content Tree, complete with examples and templates to make it simple.*

## Action Steps to Simplify Your Website

So if you want to create a better structure for your website, how would you go about it?

1. **Audit Your Categories**: Do they represent your main themes? Try to bring it down to a max of 5.
2. **Create Strategic Links**: For every blog post, ask: *What’s the next natural step for my reader?* Add internal links to lead them there, whether that is another article, an offer, or a free resource.
3. **Use Anchor Content**: Write pillar posts (or pages) for each category, linking out to related subtopics. These posts act as hubs, making your website easier to navigate.
4. **Think Visitor First**: Pretend you’re visiting your site with a goal. Can you easily find the next step to get to that goal? If not, add some guidance through buttons, links, or calls to action.

By using the Content Tree for your website content, your website becomes a thought out journey for your visitors.

If you want to dive deeper into how the Content Tree works and how to create one for your site, check out Content Success. It’s my signature system that takes the guesswork out of content strategy and helps you build connections, not just pages.

Let’s make your website flow as naturally as a growing tree. 🌱
