# Should you be working on your website?

Hey Reader,

You might know that I am currently working on my website as part of my rebranding. I am almost done, but it will take another week or two to get some extra pages going and add my new terms and conditions, etc.

However, working on my website has led to some interesting conversations I want to share with you. Here is a hot take:

## Your website doesn't have to be the most modern/prettiest one

This one might strike you as odd from someone who builds websites for others, but it is true.

What is important is that you LIKE your website, that it fits who you are, and that your clients can find the things they need. If that is the case, don't spend time on your website. Focus your energy on other elements of attracting clients.

If you DON'T like your current website and it is not doing its job, that is something else...

Most of the time, when you make changes to your business, whether consciously or not, that website becomes the visual point where you notice that something has changed, and it feels off.

**Good reasons to change your website:**

- If you completely changed your branding to show more of who you are, who you can help and what you do.
- If you changed your offers drastically.
- If you realise the tech is out of date and causing problems (like it's hard to read on mobile or not very accessible).

**Wrong reasons to change your website:**

- You are not attracting many new clients while you just changed your website. -> You can't expect immediate results when you change your website. It takes a bit of time, and there are other points to focus on (I explain this in my marketing circles, which I will be talking about in a free webinar soon)
- You want to follow the newest looks/trends without good reason. There are always new design trends and technology trends, but if they are not actually going to help your marketing flow, it's not a good reason to change your website.
- Your competitor has a new website, and you like their new look, but it is totally off for your branding. - Please do not make a new website to follow their path if it doesn't work for you.

My branding really needed an upgrade to fit with my new business direction. My old branding was made in 2014!! And yes, my website had a few updates since then but with new branding a new website was something I really wanted. I am taking the time to think through some decisions though so that it makes the website right for me for the next few years without having to make huge changes. I am looking at it from a bigger picture than just the website on its own.

I would love to know how you feel about your current website, Reader. Is it right? Do you want to change it, though maybe you shouldn't? Does it drastically need an upgrade? I'm a bit of a curious cat, so hit reply and let me know. Oh and you can add a link so I can have a look if you want ;)

**Warmest wishes,
Natalie**
