Hey Reader,
A while ago, I had a client who could only work 24 hours a week. While we were working together on her website, she mentioned that she always felt like she had no time for her clients, but she wasn't making a lot of money. First, I thought she wasn't charging enough, then I realised she didn't have many clients. But she didn't have enough time for the clients she did have...
scratch behind the ears
I asked her to write down every task she did in a week and how long each one actually took. Not how long she thought it took. How long it actually took. Turns out she was spending 20 hours on marketing.
Let me repeat that: Twenty hours on marketing. Four hours left for the work she actually started her business to do.
And she had no idea. Because it was never one big chunk of time. It took an hour to write a social media post. Another hour tweaking it. Forty-five minutes on a blog post that she'd end up not finishing. Half an hour looking for inspiration for next week's content. None of it felt excessive on its own.
But she was creating everything from scratch. Every single week. New ideas, new posts, new content, all the time. As if nothing she'd ever made before still existed.
I've noticed that most business owners are sitting on way more content than they realise. Old blog posts, social media captions, workshop notes, emails, and even conversations with clients. Stuff that worked, stuff that resonated, stuff that could easily become something new with a bit of reworking. But instead of reaching for what's already there, they start from zero. Every time.
Those 20 hours a week? It could have been 5 if she'd known how to use what she already had.
I wrote a full post about how to do exactly that. How to look at what you've already created and turn it into content without starting from a blank page every week.
Because the content you need for next week? You might have written it six months ago. You just forgot it was there.
P.S. Want a simple way to keep track of what you've already created (and what you can reuse)? My Content Calendar helps you see your content library at a glance, so you stop reinventing the wheel. It's €40 and comes as a template for Notion, Airtable, Google Sheets, or Excel.
