# Signal ping : Code is easy; ownership is not

This article from [The New Stack](https://thenewstack.io/) captures an important resistance among programmers.

The concern is not that AI-generated code fails to work, but that it creates obligations no one wants to inherit. Maintenance, debugging, and long-term stewardship still fall to humans. Also, autogenerated artifacts often obscure intent rather than clarify it. History suggests that tools which accelerate creation without improving comprehension tend to push cost downstream.

**Takeaway** : If you cannot explain it, you do not own it.
