Hello Reader!
Today is the last day of PRIME DAY DEALS. I rounded up some Prime finds that feel very Barefoot Therapist coded.
Not “buy this and become a new person by Friday” coded.
More like, “here are a few tools that may help your nervous system exhale for half a second” coded.
These are the kinds of things I love for calm-down corners, therapy offices, ADHD brains, anxious kiddos, sensory seekers, bedtime routines, overwhelmed parents, classroom calming corners, and anyone who needs their environment to do a little more of the emotional heavy lifting.
Here are 10 favorites to check out:
- A weighted blanket for that deep-pressure, wrapped-up-like-a-burrito feeling.
- Emotional regulation cards for kids who need help naming what is happening inside their bodies.
- A visual timer or timer/checklist combo for ADHD brains, transitions, homework time, morning routines, and “we are leaving in 10 minutes” moments.
- Fidget toys for restless hands, waiting rooms, classrooms, desks, car rides, and nervous-system wiggles.
- A feelings wheel and flip charts for adults, kids, teens, teachers, parents, and anyone who knows they feel “off” but cannot quite name what kind of off.
- Somatic or mindfulness cards for kids to practice calming skills before they are already in full meltdown mode.
- DBT coping skill cards and CBT challenge cards for emotional regulation, stress, and practical grounding tools.
- A diffuser or calming scent option for making a room feel softer. Please use scents carefully around pets, babies, migraines, asthma, and sensory-sensitive humans.
- A screen-free activity deck for kids who are bored, restless, or one “what can I dooooo?” away from making you hide in the pantry. And family activities are great too.
- A cozy therapy-office or reading-nook blanket because sometimes softness is a strategy.
The goal is not to buy your way into calm. The goal is to build little supports into your day so regulation does not have to depend only on willpower, patience, or the one adult in the house who is already overstimulated.
As always, take what helps and leave what does not. You know your home, your brain, your kids, and your budget best.
