# There are some houses you survive before you ever leave

Hey {{ subscriber.first_name }},

Some homes have rules taped to the refrigerator. Take your shoes off. Put your dishes in the sink. Don’t leave the door unlocked. Be home by ten.

And then there are other rules. The ones nobody says out loud, but everybody knows.

Don’t upset him.

Don’t ask too many questions.

Don’t tell anyone what happens here.

Don’t cry too loudly.

Don’t be too happy, too sad, too needy, too confident, too independent, too much.

Don’t make things worse.

These are the rules that don’t get written down, but they shape an entire nervous system. They teach a person how to scan a room before they speak. They teach a child how to read footsteps, facial expressions, silence, tone, and slammed cabinets. They teach someone that peace is something they have to earn by shrinking.

That is the heart behind my new book, ***The House of Unspoken Rules: Inside the Psychology of Fear, Control, and Silence***.

This book is for the people who learned to survive in environments where love felt conditional, safety felt unpredictable, and speaking the truth came with consequences. It is for the ones who were told they were “too sensitive” when they were actually responding to fear. It is for the ones who became experts at keeping everyone else calm while quietly losing themselves.

Through a trauma-informed lens, this book explores emotional abuse, coercive control, silence, fear-based family systems, survival responses, and the long process of learning how to trust yourself again. It is educational, but it is also deeply human, because healing is not just about knowing what happened. It is about finally having language for what your body has carried.

If this sounds familiar, I want you to know something very clearly.

You were not weak.

You were not dramatic.

You were not imagining it.

You were adapting.

Over the next few emails, I’ll be sharing more about the book, who it is for, and why these unspoken rules can follow people long after they have left the house, the relationship, the family system, or the version of themselves that had to survive.

For now, I just want to gently open the door.

There is a reason you learned to be quiet.

There is also a way back to your voice.
